Observed at the time: BTC spot $85,633, per CoinGecko, 22 Sept 2026, 04:06 UTC. This market settles on the venue's named exchange, not on CoinGecko; treat this as a close proxy rather than the settlement price.
- BTC at $86,376 needs only a +1.88% move to touch $88,000 — well within a single day's typical range for BTC, and roughly 5-6 days of the window remain.
- With daily vol of ~3-3.5%, six-day cumulative vol is ~7-8%; a barrier 1.88% away (~0.22 standard deviations) gives a theoretical touch probability around 0.80 under a reflection-principle estimate, which I shade toward the base rate for model uncertainty.
- No scheduled catalyst (FOMC is Oct 27-28, after the window) means no event-driven vol boost, but a 1.9% touch does not require a catalyst — ordinary noise suffices; this is mildly dampening, not decisive.
- The ~1 day of the window already elapsed (Sept 21) apparently without a touch, since spot sits below the strike now, marginally reducing remaining opportunity versus a full 7-day window.
What would change it: A sharp risk-off move pushing BTC below ~$83,000-84,000 early in the remaining window would materially lower the touch probability.

Base rate: For strikes within about one daily standard deviation of spot over a week-long window, BTC historically touches the level roughly 70-75% of the time, given daily realized volatility of ~3-4%; no retrieved fact supplies this rate, so it rests on general knowledge of BTC's vol regime.
Formed blind at 78.0%; published at 66.0% after the reconcile step moved it toward the market. My 0.80 reflection-principle estimate and the 72% base rate rest on the same spot price, vol, and remaining-window facts [f1] that the market can see; the market's lower price plausibly reflects recent failed moves toward the strike and order-flow information I cannot observe, so I shade partway toward it.
